Troubleshooting

Most problems come down to five things: the template is not on this page, the slot is not an auto layout, a block is not a direct child, a text layer hugs its width, or the panel was closed.

"No template on this page"

  • The component is on another Figma page. Pagestream lists components on the current page only.
  • The component has no Slot and no frame named "Content".
  • You made the template after opening the panel and the list has not refreshed. Click anything on the canvas; the list refreshes on every selection change.

Flow is greyed out

Flow needs a vertical auto-layout frame selected, with at least one child. Groups and horizontal frames do not count as a source.

Blocks land on top of each other

The slot is not a vertical auto layout. Open the main component, select the slot, set auto layout to vertical, width Fill, height Fill. Reflow.

A paragraph will not split

  • The text layer hugs its width (auto width). Set it to fixed width with auto height.
  • "Split paragraphs between lines" is off.
  • The paragraph is shorter than two times "Smallest part, in lines".

A table will not split

Its layer name needs [split], and it must be a vertical auto layout with at least two children. A table built as a group, or as rows inside a horizontal frame, moves whole.

A heading ended up alone

Its layer name does not match the keep-with-next pattern. Rename it (H2 ...) or add [keep] to the name, then Reflow.

Nothing happens when I edit

  • The panel is closed. Plugins only run while open.
  • "Reflow as I edit" is not ticked.
  • Your cursor is still inside the block you edited. Click out; the pass runs when the text edit ends.

Pages are out of order

Press Reflow. Pages are renumbered from their stored index, and a gap in the sequence is closed.

A block is taller than a page

It stays where it is and overflows; the panel names it. Shrink it, split it into two blocks, or tag it [split] if it is a stack of children.

I pasted a page into another file

The page brings its data but not its template. Reflow there will ask for a template; pick one with the same slot size and the document carries on.
